All 22 Grandkids
My parents have 22 living grandchildren (23 total). Surrey and Sarah were being the biggest pills for some reason. They both just didn't want their pictures taken. Adam and Darrin had to step in numerous times to calm those rascals down. But at least we will always remember this Thanksgiving Day.

Day 5...January 19, 2012
This is what we have been calling: The Leaning Tower of Pine.
The poor pine tree couldn't take the weight of the snow and wind.
Even after shoveling and scraping, these are our snow piles. And they just continue to grow and grow.
Wednesday night, we got a mixture of rain and snow and so these two plants show what happens. I have to admit, that I just think these frozen isicle branches are just gorgeous, but can only hope they don't break off from the weight of the ice.
And as luck would have it, our power went out. 255,000 homes lost power due to trees knocking down power lines or the weight of snow pulling them down. After the morning of huddling around our gas fireplace, we headed to our local Embassy Suites for warmth, swimming, and tv. Fortunately, our electricity went back on late that night, as PSE was forecasting electricity outages well into the weekend. Sadly, there are still people without it. So grateful that ours was turned back on sooner than later.

So this is our backyard after the snow fell all night long. And it just kept falling.
People tease Seattle for shutting down in the midst of a snowstorm. Let me remind you that Seattle is hilly. Most streets grade around 10-15%-nothing is really flat like Salt Lake. Secondly, we are NOT supposed to get snow here. It's so rare that the City/Counties do not have the manpower nor the equipment to plow the roads. Issaquah City only has a couple snowplows and so our streets in our neighborhood got scraped last.Day 2...Monday, January 16, 2012
Still thinking that snow wasn't going to last, Papa ran out with the children and built a snowman with tupperware. The kids loved it so much, that they wanted to "save" it. So they dragged it into the garage. And yes, he died a slow death of melting away.

The Pacific North West was hit with a massive snow storm. Biggest one in this century. In fact, Seattle hadn't seen this much snow since 1954 (I think that was the year...). Little did we know that this "dusting" was only the beginning.

Our Trip With Aunt Rinny
My sister, Corrine, Flew out to see me last week. We had an absolute blast. We talked, we partied, we drove around Seattle, we went on the duck tour, ate at Ivars, drove to Anacortes, talked more. We only wish she could have stayed longer. Next time she will have to bring the kids and we can play, play, play.

My Surprise Birthday Party
My birthday this year was full of surprises and one of the best. My sister, Corrine (standing behind me in this top photo), flew in from SLC on my actual birthday. We chatted late into the evening about "stuff." The next day she watched the children for me in my absence.
When I got home late that evening for my first realy official weekend at home, we had plans to go to dinner at Chipolte's with my good friend Anne (standing on the far left in the top photo). Well, when we went to go pick up Anne, my closest friends in Issaquah were all waiting for me at "Anne's French Cafe Bistro" at her home. The dinner, the company, the atmosphere made it all just so memorable and special for me, especially this time of year.
