Rocky Balboa

Oh Yes, I am a huge Rocky fan. In fact in my both my MP3 player and I Pod, I have the Rocky soundtrack on them. Who doesn't get motivated to run faster when listening to "The Eye of the Tiger" or "Gonna Fly Now" (aka Rocky Theme). And yes, I actually bought that soundtrack my last year at BYU, long before the release of the final Rocky series. In fact, Darrin even surprised me for Christmas and bought me the Rocky movie pack-ALL 5 MOVIES!!! How did he know??? (Ssshhh, he is getting the 6th one for Father's Day. ) I know, totally selfish of me, but he actually loved Rocky Balboa. We (Darrin and myself) watched it Saturday night. Ok, I actually fell asleep half way through. That's what happens now every time I pop in a movie (training for a marathon is wearing me out!). I did manage to wake up at the very end when "the decision" was made. Of course, Rocky is the winner in my book! I do admit that I was a little bummed when I saw that Talia Shire's character was dead and so not in the movie. How could they kill Adrian...Yo Adrian... Oh well, she's getting older too. Now, I am determined to see the second half this week while Darrin is in San Francisco. Plus, I need to watch it before it's due back!

Con't...
I saw the second half of the movie and LOVED IT! What's even better, the movie is rated PG. A good and clean movie, it doesn't get better than that. I do wish though that they had kept the final interview with Mason Dixon from the deleted alternate ending-wise words! Overall, I just loved the theme of the movie-when life knocks ("punches") you down, you keep getting up, only to fight harder.
I know that the ratings for the movie were poor, but I would give it an A. But what do you expect from a Rocky fan!

Cars Underwear!!!

For anyone that has children, they understand the feeling of accomplishment when their child finally "gets it" (meaning, the whole potty training thing). On Sunday morning, I (meaning mom) finally said no to diapers for Jack. He was going to wear underpants and that was that! I think that Darrin was a little nervous, as he expressed his concern later to me that day, but oh well. I am mom and I am changing more diapers that he is at the moment and I am tired of it.

I admit that the first day went better than planned; however, Jack still had two accidents at Church-one of which required a full change of outfit and trip home during the middle of Sharing time. (Fortunately, I adore my Primary President and informed her of "our situation" and so let me make a quick run home.) We (meaning, Jack and myself) returned back, only for Jack to wet his pants during the final hour of Church (right during Sacrament meeting). This time, I just let him wait it out in the wet pants until we got home. We were stuck out in the foyer any way and so he was running around "drying off." ~25 March 2007~

The second day (yesterday) went just as well as Sunday, but this time Jack let me know that he had to "pee" whiling peeing... I even got on Amazon and bought Jack these underpants in hopes to keep him motivated to wear "big boy pants" and keeping him peeing on the potty. Fortunately, Jack finds it fun to pee on the potty. He's growing up so fast! :) ~26 March 2007~

Needless to say, we are on day three and accident free-fingers crossed. Jack even gets excited every time he goes potty. "Mommy, I went pee pee." I know, I know, but whatever works, works because I am not making Huggies executives any richer than they already are. We are going to keep this up and hopefully one day, Jack will actually be able to pull down his pants, go potty, pull his pants back up, and wash his hands ALL BY HIMSELF and not make it a public announcement. But as for now, I am just thrilled that he is using the potty. ~27 March 2007~

Always getting into trouble

March 2007- After dinner, the children always get a tubby. So while trying to manage Jack and Megan alone (Darrin working late...again!), I left Jack in the tubby while I got Megan all lotioned, diapered, and dressed for bed. As I went to get Jack's PJ's I found Megan back in the tubby WITH Jack! She had managed to climb over and back into the tub all by herself, apparently. (I am sure that she had some assistance, but no one is talking...) Needless to say, I was not amused or thrilled, but how can you be upset with these cute munchins! Fortunately, Darrin came home to find them in the tub! How do two young children find a way to create trouble all by themselves, EVERY DAY! The words to the Primary song: "I'm so glad when Daddy comes home" rings more true every day. I think that it was meant for all the moms. "I'm so glad when daddy comes home, glad as I can be. Clap my hands and shout for joy and climb upon his knee. Put my arms around his neck, hug him tight like this. Pat his cheeks and give him what, a great big kiss!" Thank heavens for dads or moms would go crazy, at least this mom would.

Jack and Potty Training

For any parent who has or is attempting potty training their child, they know what a task and vigorous family project it is. We have bribed Jack with shark gummies, toys, Lightning McQueen, you name it, NOTHING has worked. One Saturday, we told Jack that he could watch any movie he wanted (portable DVD player, brilliant invention) on the potty, if he just sat there until he went. Two movies later...Jack fell asleep on the potty... Poor little guy, he couldn't even keep his head up, he was so tired. This really wore him out! I will never admit that Darrin and I know how to potty train a child until it actually happens. ~January 2007

Those Two Rascals!

Jack decided to take Mean for a ride in his mega blocks cart. It is just her size and so he thought it would be fun to pull her around the kitchen. Funny thing is that Jack got tired and so thought he would try to squeeze in too.
