Do I have a drinking problem?

I recently received my December issue of Health magazine, and as usual, skimmed through the whole magazine before I read each individual article. Under the "Healthy Body and Mind" section, my eyes caught the attention of a small boxed questionnaire: "Do I have a drinking problem?" Of course I was intrigued because if I replaced alcohol with my Diet Pepsi/Coke fetish, it could well apply.

Well, to find out for yourself, ask yourself these 4 questions:

1. Have I ever felt I should cut down on my drinking? Sometimes. When I realized that drinking a Diet Pepsi/Coke right before bed helps me fall asleep, I've thought maybe I need to cut back... It does NOTHING to keep me awake. Or now that my children love it more than Sprite! Ouch.

2. Have people annoyed me by criticizing my drinking? Well, no, not until my younger brother criticized me for drinking two full large Diet Cokes from McD's in a sitting...Hey it's better than the regular version.

3. Have I ever felt bad or guilty about my drinking? Does going to Harmon's multiple times during the week when they have their 5 for $12 sale on the 12 packs and I get cash out so that Darrin doesn't know how many times I went to stock up count???

4. Have I ever had a drink first thing in the morning to steady my nerves or to get ride of a hangover? Most definitely!!!!!

Editor's note-As much as I rationalize my drinking problem (diet cola that is), I do believe that there could be a lot worse things I could be drinking. I figure, as long as I can remain sane, healthy, and there for my children, hey, what's a couple of diet Pepsi's a day to get me through. (Also, I do make sure that I get 8-10 glasses of water throughout the day as well.) According to the article, if you answer "yes" to two or more questions, you should get help. For those of you: "Cheers!"

Happy Thanksgiving 2007

We spent the day with the Ford Family (ies). It was Nanny and Papa Ford Family and the Adam Ford Family (Adam, Mandy, Paige, Reagan, and Tyson). We had lots of fun playing games, watching movies, eating, and more eating. ~Thursday, November 22, 2007~

Our Princess turns 2!

I can't believe that it was two years ago today that our sweet princess joined our family. We weren't expecting her for another week, but she was determined to come; we couldn't have been more thrilled to hold her and kiss her.

Megan is surely a princess. As Jack said this morning though, he is a King if Megan gets to be a princess. Believe me, there are times where I feel like they rule the house and Darrin and I are just servants to their needs. But there couldn't be anyone else that I would love more and do anything for than Jack and Megan.

Well, we started her birthday festivities yesterday with dinner and birthday cake with her Nanny and Papa. Megan just squealed when she saw them walk through the door. Nanny and Papa gave them her first doll house. Megan couldn't have been more thrilled. My dad-Papa-wanted to give her the "plane" set, but my mom said that she needed a doll house more. My dad mentioned that Megan loves Jack's toys! Dad, it's because Megan doesn't really have any of her own... When Megan woke up this morning, the first thing she did was go to her doll house. We have been hearing that doorbell ever since!

After presents, we enjoyed our family's favorite cake: chocolate cake, with chocolate mouse filling, and chocolate frosting. (Mom slaved all the way to Costco for it!) Needless to say, these children are definitely Aly's children-they love frosting, as you can already see. Megan couldn't contain herself through "Happy Birthday to you!" She just had to have a bite of that blue frosting (ok, that kind is kind of yuck). Megan surely like it though and that's all that matters.

Megan has her first Gund purse. She hasn't been able to part with it since. Her bathtub after getting it was unbearable for her. She just had to carry it with her, everywhere.
