Jack Turns 8!!

We are so amazed to see the growth of our "little boy," though by the pediatricians records, he's not so little. Last week we celebrated with all your friends at Zeeks Pizza, where you learned how to throw a pizza crust, roll it out, and layer it with your favorite goodies. All your close friends showed up to celebrate this special day with you. Since you admire Jack Sparrow (“Pirates of the Caribbean”) your cake was very “piratey” and your gift bags were filled with all the necessary pirate goodies. Everyone seemed to have enjoyed themselves, especially your family.

You’re Eight years old today. Eight years old! This is such a monumental year for you as
well. You will be baptized by your father in April. Nanny and Papa Ford and Grandma and Grandpa Allred plan to come to this special occasion. We hope to make that day memorable for you as well. But more importantly, we feel honored that you will become a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. At that time, you will receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. You will be honored and blessed to have his constant companionship, especially in moments of your life where difficult decisions have to be made. Your spirit is already so tender and sweet, that we know you will come to love and hear the wisdom Heavenly Father needs to teach and guide you with, through the whisperings of the Holy Ghost.

Each year passes so quickly and it seems like you’re growing at an even a more rapid rate. One of these days you will be able to look your dad in the eye. Despite our soon to be height difference, you will always be my little boy. Dad and I love you so much and couldn’t feel proud to be your parents.

All our Love, Mom and Dad

**We celebrated your birthday dinner at Red Robin. Megan and Surrey were acting so badly, that dad took them out to the car. Instead, we enjoyed hot fudge sundaes by ourselves. I felt pretty special to share that moment with you. I love you!!

We had a heart attack!

Carlos Cupid stopped by our house Valentine's Eve and gave us a heart attack! We all loved the surprise and the candy he left on our porch. Mom was so happy to see the squeeling of the kids that it didn't seem to bother her-ME!-that Surrey was enjoying chocolate for breakfast. What was the cutest thing about it was Megan's response: "Oh my gosh mom, he [Carlos] loves us so much."
So thank you Melynda and gang for helping sweeten our family's morning!

Pretty Perfect...to me!

The last couple months have been a struggle for our family. I have seen an overwhelming support of family, friends, neighbors, and ward members. People have been so compassionate and loving-no judgement. Last night I was able to have a minute to catch up on email. I put my favorites list on my Zune player. P!nk's "Pretty Perfect" played. I couldn't believe how similar the words relayed to my current thoughts:
You're so mean, When you talk,
About yourself, You are wrong.
Change the voices, In your head
Make them like you Instead.

So complicated,
Look happy, You'll make it!
Filled with so much hatred
Such a tired game.
It's enough, I've done all I can think of
Chased down all my demons, I've seen you do the same.

Oh, Pretty, pretty please
Don't you ever, ever feel
Like your less than less than perfect.
Pretty, pretty please
If you ever, ever feel
Like you’re nothing
You are perfect to me.
Darrin, you're perfect to me!
Hopefully you'll feel the same about me.

Go Mitt!!

I have never felt so strongly about a Presidential canidate as I have felt about Mitt Romney. I was devasted about the previous election, knowing the situation of our country. I only feared how it could get worse, and it has...But now more than ever, I have felt that my beliefs are in line with Mitt's. I feel that his financial background, political background, family values, and platform really could help our country progress and change for the better. So...not only did I contribute to his campaign, but I just had to buy myself and my parents ROMNEY water bottles. However the elections turn out in November, I am grateful that I am not only allowed to "endorse" the presidential candiate of my choosing, but have the freedom to actually do so.
Happy Valentine's Day...early!
The morning of Nanny and Papa's departure, they left the kids some early valentines: these cute monkey's and their own Valentine's cups. My dad so nicely made this bench for us. I cannot wait to paint it green-love color!

Jack and Papa with the boat they made in just an afternoon.
My parents and came stayed with us close to a month (early January til early February). We absolutely loved their visit. Surrey grew so attached to her Papa. Megan just cried and cried the morning they left. I just wish I could have spent more time with them. We love having them in our home. Just so thankful they could come and help us out.
Next visit: Jack's baptism in April.
