Swimming Lessons

Jack and Megan are enrolled in survival swimming classes. We have done swimming lessons in the past, but these are amazing. Jack can now swim unassisted with swimmies. He can also jump off the side of the pool (has been able to do that since birth...) and swim to the edge unassisted, though not unsupervised! Jack can also go from swimming to floating on his back and then back to swimming. I asked Jack if he wants to be on a swim team next summer and with lots of confidence and his loud 3 year old voice he replied: "Yep!" Great, let's plan on it.

Megan has also learned a great deal. She can swim and play unassisted in the kiddie pool. (Before, if she fell, she couldn't get herself back up.) Megan knows to reach for the side and grab on once she is in the pool. She jumps and dives without fear (but that's nothing new!). Both Jack and Megan can float on the backs and keep their head afloat. Even though she screams during her whole private lesson, she is learning and growing so much. It makes me a little more relieved every time we go to the neighborhood pool that she is safer and a better swimmer because of it. Jack too.
