For those who know us and know us well, we don't hold onto anything for a long time. Why that is, we are totally unsure. I want to say that life has brought us opportunities. One of those opportunities was our VW Jetta. We bought it when we first got married. Six months later, put it on a boat and sent it across the Atlantic to England and then 2 years later, put it back on a boat and sent it back to the US. The car has been on almost every adventure, every trip, up and down and back the M25, M3, M4, A23, and of course, I 15. On Sunday afternoons in England, Darrin and I would "take a drive" in the Jetta, exploring the many beautiful streets in England. We drove to Hove, Brighton, Preston, Dover, Oxford, to name a few. That car has never once "complained" (meaning, unannounced trips to the shop). Admist the gas prices, it would give us great gas mileage. The car had lots of pick up and loved to go fast. (In fact, just a week after buying it, Darrin got a heafty speeding ticket at 106th South.) But what do you expect out of a 1.8 Turbo! In the dead of winter, our bums and back would warm up faster than the heater, making us warm and cozy. This was a great car. But as with life, our little family has gone from "the three of us" to the "five of us: Daddy, Mommy, Jack, Megan, and the Jetta." So it was no surprise when cleaning out the car at the dealer last night, we got a little emotional just saying goodbye to our sweet little car. I know many of you are thinking: "what nut heads!" And maybe you are right, but we surely loved our car and hope that its new owners do too.
